MIDDLE SCHOOL
Intro. to Drama (6th Grade)
Introduction to Creative Dramatics is a trimester course open to 6th grade middle school students to learn about the theatre, acting, arts career opportunities and advocacy, plot structure, and theatre history. Students will practice their communication and collaboration skills by constructing stories through writing activities and participating in scenes both improvised and scripted. Technology will be incorporated to create digital media to present ideas and students will practice strengthening their ability to analyze and reflect on role interpretation and production concepts.
Creative Dramatics (8th Grade)
Creative Dramatics is a trimester course open to 8th grade middle school students to develop and refine their theatre, public speaking, and communication skills. Students address plot, setting and character in both improvised and scripted scenes and recognize ways they can engage audiences through communication. Students practice collaboration skills with group projects, expand and apply their theatre vocabulary, and use proper techniques for voice and body control. Students will learn how to improvise and will perform monologues strengthening character development skills.
HIGH SCHOOL
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is a semester long course that provides students with opportunities to develop vocal music skills with a focus on vocal technique and performance. Students will collaborate and perform solo and in small groups. The content will include, but not be limited to, the following: music fundamentals, performance terminology and evaluation, artistic discipline, character development and musical expression, musical theatre history and repertoire, rehearsal procedures, audition process, scene preparation, and movement.

Fundamentals of Performance
Fundamentals of Performance is a semester long course that provides students with opportunities to develop and synthesize all of the elements of theatre into final production using various media, techniques, and processes. The content will include, but not be limited to, the following: acting, pantomime, improvisation, voice and diction, characterization, roles and careers, playwriting and analysis, theatre management, and aesthetic response and assessment. Students explore and learn to analyze dramatic scripts, seeking production solutions through historical, cultural, and geographic research.

Theatre Arts Production is a semester long course that provides learners with a basic understanding of the
aesthetics and design process of all phases of theatrical arts production. The content should include, but
not be limited to, the following: stage management, theatre roles and careers, scene development, blocking,
and script research and interpretation. Students learn the fundamentals of design presentation and
documentation; the organizational structure of productions, and how to use creative thinking to develop and
lead artistic works.
